RIP Lupe Ontiveros (1942-2012) - One of the finest character actress of the moment has died today. Famous for playing maids/housekeepers (according to her, she played more than 150 in films and TV series, reason why she narrated the documentary Maid in America), she is known from the great public after her appearence in The Goonies (1985) and for Juanita Soles in Desperate Housewives, for which she was nominated for an Emmy as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. Memorable works includes many films directed by Gregory Nava such as Selena, where she played Yolanda Saldivar, My Family and El Norte; and films like As Good as It Gets, The Brave and California Suite.
